Pudong's multinational executives eye vast market in China

The eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE), a key platform for international companies to connect with China, attracted global attention once again. Multinational companies from Shanghai's Pudong New Area that participated showed plans to expand their presence in China's large market.

Roche, the leading multinational pharmaceutical company in Pudong's Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, has invested 2.04 billion yuan ($286.45 million) in a new biopharmaceutical production facility. "The new facility symbolizes the first localized production of large-molecule antibody biologics by a multinational pharma in China, highlighting Roche's strong commitment to the market," said Vivian Bian, president of Roche Pharmaceutical China.
AstraZeneca plans to position China as a key center for worldwide healthcare innovation. At the CIIE, it announced an expansion project in Qingdao, Shandong prof'vince, emphasizing its confidence in China's innovative landscape.
Japanese beauty company Shiseido sees the CIIE as a key chance to connect its China and travel retail sectors. It plans to increase investments in new flagship products and brand growth in China.

Gilead Sciences, celebrating over eight years in China, has introduced 13 innovative drugs locally and showcased two major Asian premieres at the CIIE. This year, it expanded its Shanghai office.

Emerson China's president, Andy Wang, called the CIIE a crucial platform for engaging with the Chinese market, highlighting Emerson's continued investment in local R&D, manufacturing, and industrial AI technology.
