Feather inlay is a traditional Chinese craft that merges metalworking with feather art. Metal bases are decorated with naturally molted feathers, resulting in vibrant, glossy pieces used in jewelry and ornaments. This craft symbolizes beauty and elegance in Chinese culture.

District-level inheritor Shen Jiaqi has continued this technique, and after years of research, she has developed unique methods such as gradient feather overlays and spiral inlay. In 2018, she founded her own brand and opened a studio.

The featured piece, a seven-phoenix multi-gem crown symbolizing blessing and prosperity, is inspired by the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It features feather inlay, flower filigree, gems, and pearls. The gourd shape symbolizes prosperity and fortune in Chinese tradition, reflecting a deep cultural meaning.

The piece's complex design presented difficulties because of the fragile feathers and sizable base. It took three months to finish, utilizing around 100 parrot feathers, which highlights Shen's patience and skill.

Through immersive experiences, the CIIE introduced this unique cultural heritage to the world, promoting China's cultural confidence with a dynamic, open approach.
