Shanghai's Minhang district has been named one of the happiest districts in China for the third consecutive year. The announcement was made at the Happy Cities Forum 2025 held in Chengdu.
Happiness is now a hallmark of the district, thanks to its dedication to improving quality of life for its residents through innovative initiatives and community-focused urban planning.
The forum brought together officials, entrepreneurs, and scholars from over 50 cities and districts across China. They shared successful practices under the theme "Creating a Beautiful and Happy Life", emphasizing the importance of well-being in urban development.

The happiest cities evaluation, sponsored by the Oriental Outlook magazine affiliated with Xinhua News Agency, has recognized over 100 cities and districts since its launch 19 years ago through big data, surveys, and expert evaluations. This year, 220 candidates were considered.
Minhang's repeated recognition underscores its success in prioritizing the happiness of its residents, serving as a model for other districts aiming to enhance urban living standards in China.
