Guyuan is located in southern Ningxia. Although it is separated by thousands of miles from Changsha in Central China’s Hunan province, the two places have been closely connected throughout history. A thousand years ago, Changsha was a key hub on the Maritime Silk Road, while Guyuan served as a crucial transportation hub on the northern route of the eastern section of the ancient road. By sea and by land, these two cities together reflect the openness, inclusiveness and unity of Chinese civilization.
With an average summer temperature of just 18 C, Guyuan offers refreshing coolness, making it a natural "air conditioner" and "green oxygen bar". Majestic mountains, stunning valleys and the renowned Liupan Mountain, known as the "ecological green island" of the Loess Plateau, create breathtaking scenery. Huoshizhai National Geological Park showcases China's most magnificent Danxia landform. With streams, lakes and springs scattered throughout, Guyuan is the perfect place for a cool escape in the middle of nature.

Guyuan is also rich in cultural heritage, including Yang's clay sculptures, Wei's brick carvings, paper cutting and embroidery, while Hui and Liupan folk songs and Qin Opera are testament to a rich musical tradition. Guyuan is renowned as the "hometown of literature, calligraphy and folk art" in China.

Guyuan is also a sacred Red place with a glorious revolutionary legacy. It is the site where the Long March of the Red Army concluded victoriously. In Guyuan, visitors can revisit the glorious revolutionary past and commemorate the revolutionary martyrs.
Guyuan also offers high-quality agricultural products. Liupan Mountain beef is popular with meat eaters, while cool-weather vegetables are directly supplied to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Guyuan products like Hongmei apricots, Zhaona chickens, wild honey and cantaloupes can be used as ideal ingredients to go along with the rich flavors of Hunan cuisine.
