On Nov 19, Ningxia was honored with the "International Friendship City Award for Outstanding Contribution"" at the China International Friendship Cities Conference 2024 in Kunming, Yunnan province.
Ningxia's sister city, Gyeongsangbuk-do in South Korea, received the "Friendship City Award Outstanding Partnership with China".
The conference attracted over 700 guests, including representatives from 66 provinces and states, 125 cities, 63 local governments, and friendship organizations from 41 countries. Experts, scholars, business leaders, and media representatives also participated in the event.
The conference is a significant platform for fostering exchange and cooperation between international friendship cities and showcases China's remarkable achievements in this domain.
The friendship between Ningxia and Gyeongsangbuk-do has a long history. The two regions have maintained close cooperation since establishing friendly exchange relations in September 2004. On Oct 20, 2021, they officially became sister cities, marking a new chapter in their relationship.
This fruitful collaboration between Ningxia and Gyeongsangbuk-do in building international friendship cities has brought tangible benefits to both regions' economic and social development and injected new vitality into the friendly relations between China and South Korea.
Ningxia has established 62 sister city relationships with states, regions, counties, and districts across 43 countries. These relationships have provided significant opportunities for in-depth exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between Ningxia and various parts of the world.
