Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province will hold a development conference from June 2 to 3, aiming to display the latest achievements of its reform and development and highlight the positives in talents and businesses locating themselves there.

Themed around "Embracing the Great Bay Area and Developing Shaoxing", the conference will invite approximately 1,000 national and international professionals in industrial and commercial areas, to discuss the development of the city.

Major highlights of the conference will include a keynote plenary and two forums on the industrial and urban development of Shaoxing.

Meanwhile, two schemes focusing on the city's scientific and cultural development will also be unveiled during the event, with the aim of luring high-level talents.

Ma Guocan, deputy secretary-general of the General Office of CPC Shaoxing Municipal Committee emphasized the benefits of living in the city, in an attempt to increase its appeal to workers considering the move.

"As a cultural city with a history of more than 2,500 years, Shaoxing is also a picturesque and inclusive city lying in the south of Yangtze River Delta," said Ma.

Shaoxing has taken huge strides in building itself into a city attractive for businesses in recent years. Currently, it has four national-level development zones and 71 listed companies. Last year, the city's GDP exceeded 510 billion yuan ($79.7 billion), and has so far attracted a total of 198 professionals who are included in the provincial and national talent programs, according to Ma.

It is also hoped that the development conference will create opportunities for exchanges and cooperation for people who have a vested interest and support the development of Shaoxing.
