Maker spaces driving innovative development in Huzhou

A total of 115 maker space incubators which provide co-working space and services for startups are pushing forward the innovative development of Huzhou, Zhejiang province.

The statistics from Huzhou's science and technology bureau revealed that in 2018, 75 new incubators of this kind sprang up in the city and to date, more than 2,000 startup teams and 7,800 people are stationed in maker spaces to explore different business operations.

Some with distinct operation models such as training guidance and cultural innovation are serving as new engines for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. 

In the city's Wuxing district, the nation's first professional maker space incubator featuring human resources, found over 10,000 employees and provided more than 100 services for local companies.

"A new type of service platform for people who have the intention of building businesses, they are of great significance to accelerate the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements and foster new economic growth drivers," said an official of Huzhou's science and technology bureau.

To further promote the development of maker spaces, Huzhou has launched a series of measures to attract more potential projects and released a batch of policies to arouse people's interest about innovation and startups.

Next, the government will reinforce efforts in building platforms and offering financial support to further create a good business climate for new businesses, according to the science and technology official.
