Yuan Jiajun, governor of East China's Zhejiang province, urged all parties to concentrate their efforts on the development of 5G technology during an investigative trip to Hangzhou on April 3.

Yuan visited several 5G equipped sites in the capital city, including the Binjiang branch of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Hangzhou Great Star Industrial Co Ltd, and learned about 5G technological development and applications.

Yuan said all relevant departments are encouraged to focus on "industries, innovation and application", and to this end should formulate a development plan in accordance with the latest trends, build a batch of platforms for innovative work and industrial development, make breakthroughs in key technologies, speed up the development of commercial applications and cultivate a group of professionals and research teams.

The governor remarked that Zhejiang has the ability to take the lead in 5G development and applications in China, which will energize the province's digital economy and high-quality development.

"Everything is interconnected in the 5G era," said Yuan, urging all regions and departments to expand 5G applications and build more platforms for 5G innovation.
