E China's trade hub holds global e-commerce expo

An international electronics commerce expo came to an end in Yiwu, Zhejiang province on April 14. A total of 159,505 visitors from 35 countries and regions attended, a year-on-year increase of 5 percent.

The three-day 2019 China International Electronics Commerce Expo, as well as a digital trade expo, is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is the 6th edition of the global e-commerce event in Yiwu, East China's trade hub for small commodities.

The event focused on digital trade in the new era and sought new opportunities in the e-commerce field, offering up eight exhibition areas and 2,232 standard booths.

A total of 1,135 companies from countries such as the United States, Germany, France and Japan demonstrated their products at the expo, including 136 e-commerce firms such as Alibaba, Amazon and Baidu.

Official data showed that 60,136 cooperation intentions were reached at the expo, a year-on-year growth of 8.5 percent.

On the sidelines of the exhibitions, 28 speeches and two dialogues were organized to promote exchange and cooperation among all participants. Experts involved in the e-commerce sector shared their insights into development trends, business opportunities, new retail, and consumption during the expo, providing possible solutions to a slew of problems.
