East China's Zhejiang recognized 299 science and technology (S&T) projects for their outstanding contributions to S&T in the province at an awards conference in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, on May 14.

The 2018 Zhejiang Science and Technology Awards, which are aimed at encouraging scientific and technological progress, are the most prestigious awards for science and technology in the East China province.

Among the 299 projects, 28 won first prizes, 95 won second prizes and 176 won third prizes. The projects have generated measurable economic benefits totaling 291.8 billion yuan ($42.29 billion) in the past three years, said an official from the province's S&T bureau.
