Internet plus and life science sectors received the most attention at the conference for the remarkable progress that has been achieved in basic research and key technologies. According to the official list, seven first prize winners are related to digital economy and 10 are from the life sciences sector.

Some life sciences projects that stood out at the 2018 Zhejiang Science and Technology Awards have become the most advanced in the world and brought about considerable social and economic benefits.

Yuan Jiajun, governor of Zhejiang province, expressed appreciation for the research teams' efforts in his remarks at the awards conference. He pointed out that, as the province is pursuing high-quality development, S&T innovation is now more important than ever before.

Yuan called for more efforts in the future to build innovation platforms, resolve key problems, cultivate clusters of innovative industries and foster more research teams.
