China is gearing up for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Nov 5-10 and the many trade opportunities that will come with it.

Zhejiang province in East China, known for its prosperous private sector and open economy, will host the Zheshang International Import Expo (ZSIME) in November as part of the CIIE's supporting activities in Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing.

Zhejiang is known in China for its booming foreign trade. In 2018, the province saw a total import value of $111.32 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.2 percent. It has been upgrading its consumption structure and industrial development for the past several years to better integrate itself into the Yangtze River Delta region and further open up.

With an area of 30,000 square meters and a total of 1,000 standard booths, ZSIME will provide a foreign trade platform for Zhejiang enterprises, or Zheshang in Chinese. The five-day expo will feature exhibitions, forums and various discussions on exchange and cooperation.

Preparation work is going smoothly. At a meeting on May 12, a preparatory committee and a commerce alliance were established to carry out the work of organizing ZSIME.
