The Cuban edition of a book containing 232 essays by President Xi Jinping debuted in the capital Havana on Monday as officials expressed hope that the book will help promote further understanding and friendship between China and the Caribbean country.

Zhejiang, China: A New Vision on Development was released in Spanish during a ceremony attended by more than 200 dignitaries, including Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso Grau and Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, vice-minister of foreign affairs.

Jia Yulin, a senior official in the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the book is an important work to better understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The book's 232 opinion articles were contributed by Xi to Zhejiang Daily during his tenure as the secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC between 2003 and 2007. In his articles, Xi touched on various issues such as anti-corruption and promoting scientific development.

Jia said the book showcased Xi's important thoughts and concepts on adhering to a people-centered approach, promoting scientific development, seeking truth and innovation and enabling clean governance as well as virtue among officials.

Chen Xi, Chinese ambassador to Cuba, said China and Cuba are good comrades, friends and partners in seeking reform, development and win-win cooperation.

The release of the Cuban version of the book came as China celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with Cuba also celebrating the 60th anniversary of its revolution victory, Chen said. He added that the book will definitely push forward exchanges on governance experience between the two nations and further mutual understanding and friendship.
