Established in 2012 and led by Duan Shumin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the medicine department of Zhejiang University, the brain bank of ZUSM is a multidisciplinary sample platform integrating neuroscience, human anatomy, pathology and other related disciplines.

In the past seven years, the brain bank has collected and stored 179 fresh whole human brain tissue samples according to international standard workflow. In addition, the brain bank creates paper and electronic information files for each sample. The data is input by technicians and preserved in a digital management platform. All the information is saved anonymously by numbers, strictly guaranteeing the security of data and the privacy of donors.

ZUSM's brain bank has provided over 3,600 human brain tissue samples for 26 domestic scientific research projects, giving strong support to the research on Chinese brain tissue samples.
