The plantation of yellow peaches in Zhongyu town, Pujiang county has helped rural areas pave a new way to prosperity.

Thanks to the natural conditions and scientific planting and management methods, the yellow peaches grown in the town are popular among the public. This year, the total output of yellow peaches is estimated to surpass 1,000 metric tons, generating more than 15 million yuan ($2.13 million) in income for local farmers.

"The planting area has been expanded from 1.3 hectares to 4 hectares. Also, the number of peach varieties has increased to ensure a stable output through July, August and September," said Jiang Litang, a yellow peach farmer in Zhongyu.

These past several years, the local government has been making efforts to help farmers improve planting and management techniques. Delegations are often organized to Jiaxing, Chunan and Shanghai to carry out exchanges with more experienced peers.

Moreover, a yellow peach industry association was launched in Zhongyu town this March.
