Celebrations for the 2019 Hangzhou International Day will be held from Sept 4 to 8 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, said organizers on Sept 2.

Hangzhou designated September 5 as International Day last April to mark the anniversary of the closing of the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit. It has now become a permanent annual event designed to raise the city's international profile.

With the tagline "linking Hangzhou to the world", this year's event will see an array of forums, council meetings and themed exhibitions showcasing the city's increasing international appeal and achievements in foreign exchange.

Organizers said that an international exhibition area featuring 19 countries including Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, Colombia, South Korea, India, Turkey and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group will be set up in the downtown area from Sept 5 to 8, with cultural product displays and distinctive performances from each country.

Wang Jin, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Hangzhou Municipal Government, said that Hangzhou International Day is an attempt by the city to further open up and promote internationalization.

"We hope to promote the city and facilitate communication between Hangzhou and the world by integrating resources and sharing Hangzhou's experiences in digital economy, business, travel and economic development," said Wang.
