The fourth annual International Economic and Trade Fair of Tongxiang opened on Sept 10. Twenty projects worth around 30 billion yuan ($4.21 billion) were inked at the opening ceremony.

The fair was attended by more than 500 guests from at home and abroad – including officials from the consulates of Colombia, Portugal and the Philippines in Shanghai, experts and academics from leading research institutes and universities and investors from around the world.

The fair, since it was established in 2016, has become a platform to showcase Tongxiang's economic and social achievements and boost its opening-up to the world, said local officials.

The county-level city has seen nearly 200 major projects signed over the past four years through the platform. The projects – in areas including electronic information, equipment manufacturing and composite materials – have brought in investment of more than 80 billion yuan.

A new innovation center in Wuzhen focusing on the internet and integrated circuits – Wuzhen ICC for short – was launched at the opening ceremony. Sheng Yongjun, Party chief of Tongxiang, issued appointment letters to 10 experts in the field who will work in the center.

Wuzhen is a town in Tongxiang famous for its internet development. It is the permanent site of the annual World Internet Conference.
