An initiative asking cities in the Yangtze River Delta region to work together to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism was launched on Oct 11.

The initiative, proposed by Huzhou in Zhejiang province, ultimately aims to make the YRD region a high-quality international tourist destination.

An alliance of national tourism resorts in the region was also established on the same day at a tourism summit hosted by the provincial department of culture and tourism and the municipal government of Huzhou.

All 13 resorts in the alliance agreed to share resources and information to promote regional tourism development.

Five lakes in Zhejiang, namely Taihu Lake in Huzhou, West Lake in Hangzhou, Dongqianhu Lake in Ningbo, Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing and Donghu Lake in Shaoxing, formed an alliance last September, which paved the way for more regional cooperation in tourism development.
