Zhejiang University team triumphs at innovation contest

A research team from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, clinched the top spot at the 6th China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (internet category), which concluded in Hangzhou Dream Town, on Oct 23.

The final saw various teams present their innovative designs and products, with many utilizing some of the latest technologies, such as 5G, cloud computing, VR and robotics. 

Following several intense rounds of competition, the Hamu research team from Zhejiang emerged victorious –– thanks to their impressive robot which can be used for cleaning offshore oil platforms and the bottoms of ocean-going vessels.

A top prize of 180,000 yuan ($25,483) was awarded to the best performing team overall, and a total of 10 teams including the one claiming top spot shared the gold award, with 20 sharing silver.
