A summit meeting to attract talents from around the world was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Oct 27.

More than 500 academics, digital industry leaders and other high-profile talents from across the world attended the meeting to discuss business and mutual development with over 1,000 companies.

"We welcome talents from home and abroad to join us in developing our city. We will strengthen policy support to guarantee better services for talents," said Ma Weiguang, Party chief of Shaoxing, at the opening ceremony of the meeting.

The Shaoxing government also announced at the opening ceremony that it will grant a maximum of 10 million yuan ($1.42 million) in subsidies to outstanding startup teams and five years of allowances to outstanding talents at the municipal level or above who decide to set up shop in the city.

Initiated by the municipal government of Shaoxing in 2010, the meeting has been held for nine consecutive years and has become a useful platform for Shaoxing to attract talents.

Statistics show that the city has introduced 160 leading talents at the national level, 130 at the provincial level, and 776 other talents to date.

Many industrial parks, innovation zones for overseas talents and startup incubation centers have been established in Shaoxing in recent years.

The city also launched several new policies in July to provide stronger financial support and others services for talents.
