A meeting to promote rural industrial development in Zhejiang was held in Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, on Nov 14.

Che Jun, Party chief of Zhejiang, and Yuan Jiajun, governor of Zhejiang, sent written instructions to the meeting, emphasizing the importance of carrying out rural revitalization through the strengthening of supply-side structural reforms in agriculture, industrial integration, innovation and policy support.

Zheng Shanjie, deputy Party chief of Zhejiang, addressed the meeting.

Zheng said that the province would focus on developing 10 rural industries – modern plantation, modern aquaculture, agricultural products processing, agricultural machinery, resource and environmental protection, trade, tourism, information, comprehensive services and local special industries.

Zheng stressed that a market-oriented model should be used and efforts should be made to integrate the development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. 

He also emphasized the importance of advancing technological innovation through the digitalization of rural areas, including developing digital farms, intelligent fields and smart logistics.

Zheng urged related government departments to strengthen guidance on rural industrial development, improve mechanisms and policies, and increase professional skills training for farmers.
