Zhejiang’s foreign trade in November grows faster than national average

Zhejiang's monthly imports, exports, and the two combined all grew faster in November than the national average, according to Hangzhou Customs.

Statistics show that Zhejiang imported 71.47 billion yuan ($10.21 billion) of commodities during the month, up 8.7 percent year-on-year, a record high in its monthly imports. Exports reached 196.44 billion yuan, up 2.9 percent. The total foreign trade in November hit 267.91 billion yuan, up 4.4 percent.

In addition, Zhejiang contributed 20.8 percent of the national export growth in the first eleven months, ranking first among all provinces in China.

Zhejiang saw a big boom in its trade with emerging markets. In November, the province exported goods worth 25.29 billion yuan, 18.39 billion yuan and 17.33 billion yuan to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Latin America and the Africa respectively, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent, 9.4 percent and 26.3 percent. Its trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative during the period reached 70.84 billion yuan, up 16.6 percent over a year earlier.

Private companies play a remarkable role in driving the growth. In November, the province's private companies exported 158.04 billion yuan of goods, up 6.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 80.5 percent of the province's total exports during the period.
