5G patrol robot helps monitor body temperature at Ningbo's airport

A 5G-based patrol robot was recently used to take passengers' temperatures at Lishe International Airport in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

Based on infrared measurement, the robot can detect the body temperatures of 10 passengers simultaneously at a distance of five meters, with a margin of error of 0.5 Celsius degrees.

If the robot detects someone with a high temperature, it will release a warning to backstage monitors and other passengers.

It can also identify those who are not wearing a face mask.

According to the developer China Mobile Ningbo, the robot is the first of its kind to be used at an airport in China. Equipped with five high-definition cameras and using 5G network, it is capable of 24-hour 360-degree monitoring.

In addition to the robot, many other 5G-based applications will be used in local hospitals in the future, such as a nursing robot, transport robot and disinfection robot.

The robots are developed by integrating 5G and other cutting-edge technologies including the internet of things, machine vision, biometric identification, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data.
