Zhejiang strengthens education for skilled workers

The Zhejiang Craftsmen College was inaugurated in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Sep 4 to enhance the education of skilled workers and improve the quality of labor.

It is part of the province’s latest move to spur regional and industry economic development.

The college has 10 schools, including those focused on high-end equipment, new information technology, and new energy vehicles, covering a wide range of the core industries of Zhejiang.

In addition, a special action program was also launched during the inauguration ceremony. The program will see model workers and skilled talents in Zhejiang form technical service teams to provide technical services, skill training, and participate in enterprise research and development, among other initiatives.

The total number of skilled workers in Zhejiang reached 11.95 million at the end of 2022.

Among them, 3.95 million are highly skilled workers, accounting for 33.1 percent of the skilled workforce. Zhejiang aims to have around 11.5 million skilled workers by the end of 2025, with the total number of highly skilled workers exceeding 4 million, making up 35 percent of the skilled workforce.
