Chinese dance drama Mulan will be performed in the United States from Sept 23 to Oct 1. The show will have two performances at the Boch Center in Boston, followed by four performances at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.

Based on the legendary tale of Hua Mulan, the production tells the inspiring story of a courageous woman who disguises herself as a man to protect her father from being conscripted into the war. With unwavering determination, Mulan embarks on a 12-year journey, becoming a skilled and respected warrior in the Chinese army.

Recognized for its excellence, Mulan was awarded the coveted Lotus Award, the highest honor in China's dance industry, in December 2018.

Under the esteemed direction of Zhou Liya and Han Zhen, this collaborative effort between the Ningbo Performing Arts Group, China National Opera House, and the government of Wuhan's Huangpi district has garnered immense praise since its debut at the National Grand Theater in 2017.

Building on its domestic success, Mulan has received overwhelming acclaim overseas. It was a highlight at the 50th Cervantes International Festival in Mexico in October 2022, where it received rave reviews and admiration from netizens. Audiences were enthralled by the elegant and graceful Chinese dance performances, appreciating the effort invested in introducing this captivating art form to their country.

During a month-long celebration of the Spring Festival in Colombia, Mulan mesmerized audiences at the Santa Domingo Grand Theater in the capital city of Bogota. Online viewership surpassed 2 million, showcasing the widespread appeal of the production.
