Zimbabwean journalist: World Internet Conference a bridge between developing countries
The global significance of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit lies in its creation of a platform for countries at different stages of development to engage in mutual communication, said Walter Nyamukondiwa, a journalist with Zimbabwe's newspaper The Herald, in an interview with China Media Group.
"I would say it's very impressive how transacting in China has become so much easier." said Nyamukondiwa.
"You can go into a shop. You can buy without talking to anyone. It's just the interaction with your device. You are able to transact. You are able to get whatever you want, which helps in terms of efficiency and convenience as well." he added.
Nyamukondiwa has been closely following the WIC for years. What has impressed him most is that China is heavily involved in trying to share technologies with African countries.
The WIC Wuzhen Summit should be the bridge that ensures movement of the global south and enables them to benefit from the digital age, according to him.
Themed "Creating an Inclusive and Resilient Digital World Beneficial to All — Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace", the WIC Wuzhen Summit, to be held from Nov 8 to 10 in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province, celebrates its tenth edition this year.
