Shaoxing's sprinter, Xie Zhenye, secures his spot at the Paris Olympics after clocking 20.15 seconds in the men's 200-meter event at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Florida, United States, on April 13.
Coach Tao Jianrong notes it's Xie's best performance in nearly four years, despite signs of fatigue in the latter half.
Xie's return to the 200m track after a year marks a significant milestone in his season.
While his 9.97-second victory at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023 was remarkable, wind conditions prevented direct qualification for the Paris Olympics in the 100 meters.
Xie continues his training with the national team in the US, eyeing berths in the men's 100m and 4x100m relay events at the Paris Olympics.
Expressing gratitude on social media, Xie promises to give his all with three months to go until the Paris Olympics.
