Yiwu, Portugal forge stronger economic ties

The China (Yiwu) - Portugal Economic and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Porto, Portugal on May 10. The event, attended by over 50 delegates including government officials and business leaders from both sides, was aimed at deepening economic relations between Yiwu and Portugal.

Keynote speakers included Zhao Bentang, the Chinese ambassador to Portugal, and Wang Jian, Party secretary of Yiwu. They were joined by Miguel Matos of AEP and Wang Xiaowei, president of the Chinese United Association of Portugal, among other dignitaries.

Wang Jian highlighted the 45th anniversary of China-Portugal diplomatic ties, emphasizing the growing trade between Yiwu and Portugal, with Portuguese products increasingly reaching China through Yiwu's market. He invited Portuguese businesses to explore opportunities in Yiwu and welcomed the Chinese diaspora in Portugal to invest in Yiwu, promising full support for mutual development.

The Yiwu delegation also visited the Tamegae Sousa municipal community headquarters to discuss further collaboration, marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral trade and cooperation.
