Anticipation for the Paris Olympics is driving a surge in China's manufacturing sector, particularly in Yiwu, known for its robust export market.

In the first four months of the year, exports of sports goods and equipment from Yiwu reached 3.1 billion yuan ($427.79 million), a significant 45.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Wells Knitting Co Ltd, a company based in Yiwu, is bustling with activity as it races to meet the high demand for sports merchandise. The company's products, which include supporting gear for various football teams, are in high demand across Europe, with over 100,000 scarves already sent to the continent.

Yiwu Aokay Sports Goods Co Ltd is another local enterprise that's ramping up production. With state-of-the-art equipment, the company can produce 3,000 footballs per day. The company's production schedule is booked solid through July, demonstrating the economic impact of the upcoming Olympic Games.
