With construction well underway, Jiaxing airport has been officially named as Jiaxing Nanhu Airport, following approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Jiaxing Nanhu Airport is located approximately 10 kilometers from the center of Jiaxing. It is within a one-hour accessible radius that includes major cities in the Yangtze River Delta such as Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Ningbo.

The intersection of expressway, railway, and high-grade waterway and port around the airport forms a comprehensive and integrated "air-rail-water-land" transportation network.

Upon completion in June 2025, Jiaxing Nanhu Airport will feature a runway that is 3,400 meters long and 50 meters wide, with 56 aircraft stands. By 2030, the airport is expected to handle 1.8 million passengers and 1.1 million metric tons of cargo and mail annually.

The terminal building will have a functional area of approximately 25,900 square meters, spread over three floors. The ground floor will serve as the arrival level, featuring remote departure and arrival halls, baggage claim, a reception hall, and a VIP area. The mezzanine will connect the boarding bridges to the baggage claim area on the ground floor. The third floor will be the departure level, housing the departure hall, check-in counters, security check area, and near-gate waiting lounges.

The terminal's metal roof is designed in the shape of Jiaxing's city flower, the azalea, with a total of 22 azaleas. The sides of the terminal will feature glass curtain walls, and there will be six boarding gates in total.
