Wuju Opera shines on global stage

The Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe recently captivated European audiences with its performances in Germany, Spain, and Andorra, showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant artistry of Wuju Opera.

Young actor Yan Lu, making her international debut, refined her performance under the guidance of Wuju Opera veterans. Similarly, Yuan Jianhao, another young lead, pushed himself to new heights with the help of award-winning actor Lou Sheng. The troupe members, versatile in their roles, ensured every aspect of the performance was flawless, from props to lighting and translations.

The troupe has toured all over the world.

In Kenya, they conducted workshops at a local university, teaching the intricacies of Wuju Opera. In the Netherlands, interactive sessions allowed local audiences to experience the art of Wuju Opera face painting. A spontaneous street performance in Sweden, featuring characters from the classic Journey to the West, highlighted China's advanced e-payment systems and became a viral sensation.

Each performance was met with resounding applause, reflecting the universal appeal of Wuju Opera. This ancient art form continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, bridging cultural divides and evoking deep emotional responses. The success of these international tours underscores the troupe's cultural confidence and adaptability, paving the way for Chinese traditional opera to thrive on the global stage.
