The results of the 2024 China's Happiest Cities survey were unveiled on Dec 20 in Shanghai, with several cities from Zhejiang province — including Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Taizhou, and Huzhou — making the list.

Organized by Oriental Outlook, a Shanghai-based magazine under Xinhua News Agency, the annual event has been running for 18 years. This year's theme focused on gauging residents’ sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security.

The survey highlights innovative measures taken by Chinese cities to improve livelihoods and achieve notable progress in enhancing quality of life.
