Annual report reveals Zhejiang's gains and goals
At the third session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress in Hangzhou on Jan 14, Liu Jie, acting governor of Zhejiang, presented the provincial government work report, summarizing achievements from 2024 and outlining objectives for 2025.
Zhejiang's 2024 GDP is expected to grow by about 5.5 percent, with urban and rural incomes rising 4.3 percent and 6.1 percent, respectively.
The province completed over 34,000 projects aimed at improving quality of life, ranging from infrastructure upgrades to public service enhancements.
Consumer spending saw a boost from more than 2,000 promotional events, driving a 4 percent increase in retail sales and 5 percent growth in the service sector.
The new quality productive forces emerged as a key driver, with research and development spending reaching about 3.2 percent of the provincial GDP.
Zhejiang also secured approval to develop China's first bulk commodity resource allocation hub, while Ningbo-Zhoushan Port recorded a 4 percent rise in cargo throughput and an 11.3 percent jump in container volume.
Registered business entities grew by 5.9 percent, hitting 10.95 million.
In the cultural industry, the hit video game Black Myth: Wukong cast a magical light on the province's creative potential.
In 2025, Zhejiang aims to grow GDP by 5.5 percent while keeping inflation under 2 percent and unemployment below 5 percent. Disposable income growth is expected to align with the GDP growth.
The government will focus on 11 key areas, including expanding international trade, pursuing common prosperity, reducing carbon emissions, and improving public welfare.
