The 2025 Ningbo Spring Festival Gala, set to take place on Jan 23, promises an innovative and immersive experience, blending cutting-edge technology with rich cultural traditions for a new level of excitement to audiences both on-site and online.
At the heart of this year's gala is a unique stage design, incorporating a full 360-degree surround LED display that envelops the audience, creating a "stage in the audience" effect. This immersive visual setup is complemented by advanced sound design, making viewers feel as though they are part of the performance.
"We created a space where the audience becomes part of the stage," said Yan Xiaoping, the gala's executive director, "This immersive experience is achieved by the integration of digital technology and spatial creativity."
Investments in technologies have also increased, with 30 percent more LED screens than in previous years, alongside ice screens and floor projections that contribute to a dynamic visual environment.
"We've increased the number of LED screens and added interactive elements to give the audience a truly engaging experience," said Chen Dacheng, the gala's stage design director.
The addition of a floor-lifting system, controlled by 54 rapid lifting devices, further enhances the spatial depth of the performance, creating intricate and layered scenes.
Incorporating AI technology, the gala introduces innovative elements such as AI robots sharing the stage with human performers. AI is also used to present Ningbo's cityscape and iconic landmarks in vibrant, imaginative ways.
"We are bringing Ningbo's charm to life through multiple platforms, allowing audiences to join in," said Zou Jianhong, the gala's chief director.
