The Quzhou municipal committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on Dec 3 to promote urban construction aimed at building Quzhou in Zhejiang province into a "garden city with mountains and waters".

The meeting unveiled 10 landmark projects, including enhancements to Luming Central Park and the construction of Gumie Cultural Park.

According to a decision passed by the CPC Quzhou municipal committee, a "garden city with mountains and waters" integrates natural landscapes with sustainable urban living, emphasizing the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, economic prosperity and ecological beauty, cultural richness, and enjoyable life.

The city's natural setting provides a strong foundation for this vision. Located in western Zhejiang, Quzhou is surrounded by the Qianli Ridge and Xianxia Mountains and is intersected by nine rivers, including the Qujiang and Wuxi rivers, with over 10 low mountains and hills scattered throughout.

Guided by research from Southeast University's team, Quzhou aims to create a comprehensive landscape system by establishing two major scenic corridors, focusing on six river bends and lush mountains, and connecting four major parks.

This transformation promises to enhance residents' quality of life by providing extensive green spaces that foster a sustainable urban lifestyle.

It's expected that this landscape will take shape in Quzhou by 2030.
