Hangzhou-based Zhejiang FC has completed the signing of Park Jin-seop from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC, strengthening its defensive setup ahead of the new Chinese Football Association Super League season, the club announced on Jan 2.

Park will wear the No 4 shirt and is expected to feature across the defensive midfield and backline. Known for his positional discipline and physical presence, the 30-year-old adds depth and tactical flexibility in central areas.

While primarily valued for his defensive output, Park is also comfortable in possession. He has shown the ability to progress the ball from deep positions and contribute through set pieces and long-range efforts.

Born on Oct 23, 1995, in Jeonju, South Korea, Park stands 186 centimeters tall and is regarded as a defensively minded midfielder with strong aerial ability and one-on-one defending. During the 2025 season, he averaged 7.14 interceptions and 12.49 ball recoveries per match, while recording a defensive duel success rate of 73.61 percent.

He anchored the K League 1's tightest defense for Jeonbuk in 2025, as the club conceded the fewest goals and captured both the league title and the Korea Cup. Park was named to the K League 1 Best XI in both 2024 and 2025 and was voted Most Valuable Player of the 2025 Korea Cup.

Back on familiar pitch

Park is no stranger to Hangzhou, where Zhejiang FC is based. He won the men's football gold medal with South Korea at the Hangzhou Asian Games, with matches played at Huanglong Sports Center, now his home ground at club level.

That medal marked a turning point in Park's career. Coming as he approached mandatory military service, the victory also secured him a sports exemption under South Korean regulations.

Park has said he is focused on adapting quickly and contributing to Zhejiang's push for championships as preparations begin. Beyond football, he has also expressed interest in spending more time in Hangzhou and exploring the city during breaks between training sessions and matches.

Founded in 1998, Zhejiang FC finished seventh in last season's Chinese Football Association Super League. Australian coach Ross Aloisi took charge in December 2025 and will lead the team into the new season.
