Ningbo's Wang Chang kicked off the season with a breakthrough victory at the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2026, which concluded on Jan 18 in New Delhi.

The India Open, a BWF World Tour Super 750 event, was held at the Indira Gandhi Arena, the venue for this year's BWF World Championships.

Teaming up with Liang Weikeng, the Ningbo shuttler staged a determined comeback to defeat Japan's Hiroki Midorikawa and Kyohei Yamashita in a tense men's doubles final.

In the final, the Japanese pair took the first game 21-17 despite a mid‑game surge from Liang and Wang. The second game was a fierce contest, with the Chinese duo surviving late pressure to edge it 25-23. The decider remained close early on, before Liang and Wang seized control with sharp net play and held off their opponents to seal a 21-16 victory.

The victory marks Liang and Wang's first BWF World Tour men's doubles title of the season and their first Super 750 triumph since winning the Denmark Open in October 2024.
