Zhejiang's coastal port cluster has fully entered the 100-million-metric-ton era after Wenzhou Port and Taizhou Port both announced annual cargo throughput exceeding 100 million tons in 2025.

With the milestones, all of Zhejiang's major coastal ports — Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Jiaxing Port, Wenzhou Port, and Taizhou Port — have now joined the ranks of 100-million-ton ports.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port handled more than 1.4 billion tons of cargo in 2025, becoming the world's first port to reach that level of annual throughput. It has ranked first globally in cargo throughput for 17 consecutive years, while its container throughput has remained among the top three worldwide.

In 2025, Jiaxing Port recorded cargo throughput of about 143.56 million tons, up 1.82 percent year-on-year. Foreign trade cargo totaled about 19.36 million tons, rising 12.78 percent and marking the fastest growth among Zhejiang's coastal ports.

In 2025, its foreign trade container throughput at Wenzhou Port reached 452,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, up 15.4 percent year-on-year. The port now operates 18 short- and medium-haul shipping routes, linking destinations including the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Taizhou Port also posted strong growth. Cargo throughput reached about 100.19 million tons in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 17.6 percent, the highest growth rate among Zhejiang's coastal ports.
