Yan Zhipeng, a photographer from Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, teamed up with Li Xinran to win the Galaxies category of the 2026 ZWO Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition with the work NGC 4753: A Symphony of Dust Lanes in Virgo.

The results were announced on Sept 17, with their image selected from nearly 4,000 entries from 66 countries.

Organized by Royal Observatory Greenwich, part of Royal Museums Greenwich, and sponsored by the company ZWO, Astronomy Photographer of the Year is the world's largest astrophotography competition.
