The RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference was held in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province on Dec 30 to deepen regional cooperation and exchanges and pool efforts among Fujian enterprises.

The Fujian Asia Pacific Cooperation Promotion (FJAPCP), China's first provincial-level business association responding to the RCEP agreement, was also established on site.

FJAPCP will conduct market and policy research on Asia-Pacific countries to provide member enterprises with the newest market information as well as organize activities and trainings to promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Asia-Pacific countries, said Wu Huaxin, newly-selected founding chairman of FJAPCP.

FJAPCP attracted more than 900 Fujian enterprises in a variety of fields in investment and trade during the past few months of its establishment, said Huang Dezhi, deputy director of Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce.

Fujian and RCEP member countries have strengthened economic and trade connections in recent years. The total imports and exports between Fujian and RCEP member countries during the first nine months of this year amounted to 470.78 billion yuan ($73.86 billion), up 30.8 percent year-on-year.

The RCEP agreement, which covers about 30 percent of the world's population, will take effect on Jan 1, 2022, and is expected to create an integrated market with around one-third of the global economy as well as integrate trade and economic regulations within the region.
