East China's Fujian province received a total of 16.65 million visitors during the past Spring Festival holiday, generating a combined revenue of 7.67 billion yuan ($1.21 billion), according to official statistics released by the provincial department of culture and tourism.

To meet the short-trip travel needs of locals and tourists during the holiday and active Spring Festival holiday tourism market, the province launched a number of cultural and tourism measures to enrich people's holiday experiences, and stimulate the domestic demand for cultural and tourism consumption.

Statistics showed that more than 160 A-level scenic spots across the province were open to the public for free or at half price during the Spring Festival holiday, which was a big reason for the province's tourism boom during the holiday.

The province distributed a real-name e-coupon card "Fuyou Card" for free, which is valid until the end of 2022. People can enjoy a 50 percent discount on their first entry tickets at about 50 scenic spots in the province, which include all 5A-level scenic spots, key 4A-level scenic spots, and selected hot springs.

In addition, Fujian artists and art troupes staged performances to the public for free in historical and cultural blocks like Sanfang Qixiang (Three Lanes and Seven Alleys) and Shangxiahang, as well as in public parks. Over 400 characteristic street culture and art events such as hanfu (traditional Chinese apparel) exhibitions and guzheng (a Chinese plucked zither) performances were held in cities and districts across the province, and had a total of over 300,000 people in attendance.
