Fujian province released an implementation plan on Jan 2 for an orderly transition to Class-B management of COVID-19 as China has announced that it will downgrade its management of COVID-19 from Class A to Class B on Jan 8.

The plan puts a focus on "health protection and severe case prevention", and targeted measures will be taken to effectively coordinate the epidemic response with economic and social development.

The province has promoted vaccinations and the supply of medicines. It plans to continue to strengthen its medical treatment and epidemic prevention and control system.

According to the plan, protecting key groups of people such as the elderly, improving severe case treatments, providing more medical resources and services, expanding the capacity of fever clinics, and strengthening epidemic prevention and control measures in key locations and institutions are Fujian's main goals.
