The 8th Maritime Silk Road (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival kicked off in Fuzhou, the capital of East China's Fujian province, on Nov 17.

The month-long festival, which is aimed at promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and serves as a platform for regional tourism cooperation for countries along the Maritime Silk Road (MSR), sees the release of reports on tourism development in cities along the MSR.

According to the Travel Property Index (TPI) ranking of cities located along the MSR, Fuzhou is ranked 8th among 29 domestic cities and 8 foreign cities along the MSR and the first in South China.

Fuzhou authorities also announced an initiative to promote Silk Road cultural exchanges by introducing tourism routes and constructing MSR national cultural parks.

Events such as the 2023 Fujian Travel Mart, the 13th Fuzhou Hot Spring International Tourism Festival and the opening ceremony of the Maritime Silk Road International Tourism Center will also be held during the festival period.
