Fujian Provincial Healthcare Security Bureau recently issued a notice on improving medical security for Taiwan compatriots to promote the integrated development across the Taiwan Strait. Five key measures have been introduced to ensure equal medical insurance treatment for Taiwan compatriots and businesses in Fujian.

In Fujian, Taiwan compatriots now receive equal medical insurance coverage to mainland residents. This policy ensures parity in basic medical insurance participation for Taiwan compatriots residing in the region.

The second measure facilitates the application of medical insurance for Taiwan residents with residence permits. Taiwan compatriots in Fujian can apply for basic medical insurance using their residence permit of Taiwan residents of the people's Republic of China or Mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents.

To enhance services, Taiwan compatriot service centers will be established. These centers provide comprehensive support for handling medical expense reimbursements covered by Taiwan's National Health Insurance, streamlining procedures for Taiwan compatriots returning to Taiwan.

Taiwan-funded medical institutions in Fujian are being encouraged to join the medical insurance designated hospitals, where they will be subject to unified management similar to medical institutions in Fujian province.

Efforts are underway to optimize medical insurance management services for Taiwan compatriots in Fujian. Additionally, special service windows for Taiwan enterprises will be set up to deliver improved and more convenient medical insurance services for Taiwan compatriots and businesses in the region.

Officials from the Fujian Provincial Healthcare Security Bureau have emphasized the province's commitment to building the demonstration zone for the integrated development across the Taiwan Strait. By implementing equitable medical insurance policies, Fujian has fostered a more convenient environment for Taiwan compatriots and businesses seeking medical services in the province. Currently, 16,000 Taiwan compatriots are enrolled in Fujian's basic medical insurance program.
