Fuzhou-based champion weightlifter Li Wenwen successfully defended her title on Aug 11 at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 81 kilogram weightlifting final – achieving a snatch of 136 kg, as well as a clean and jerk of 173 kg – totaling 309 kg.

Both gold medals for East China's Fujian province in the Olympics were won by athletes from Fuzhou city, as Li Wenwen and 61 kg men's weightlifter Li Fabin successfully defended their titles.

With their top-flight performances, they have upheld the strong international standing of the Fujian weightlifting team, showcasing the rich strength and heritage of competitive sports in Fuzhou.
