On Aug 16, the main venue of the 2024 fujian fishing Season was inaugurated on Nanri Island, Xiuyu district, Putian, in East China's Fujian province, officially marking the beginning of the fishing season – a happy time for seafood enthusiasts. The event also explores the integrated development of fishing and tourism to foster the marine economy.

During the event, alongside unique folk performances, including a song praying for safe and bountiful fishing at sea, 16 integrated fishing and tourism projects were unveiled, encompassing a variety of fields, including hotels and homestays, with a total investment of 5.21 billion yuan ($729 million).

Furthermore, the event honored eight representatives of marine fisheries and presented a plaque to a marine product R&D base for integrated development across the Taiwan Strait located in the Xiuyu district of Putian.

Over 100 journalists from major national media outlets around the country were invited to conduct on-site interviews, focusing on highlights such as offshore wind power and marine technology, showcasing Xiuyu district's achievements in high-quality development through integrated media reports.

Moreover, Nanri Island has hosted cultural events for the fishing season for the past three years, with Putian designated as the main venue for 2024. Located on the southeast coast of Fujian, Xiuyu district has leveraged its natural resource advantages to vigorously develop ecological, efficient, high-quality, and branded fisheries.
