The first national "Digital Craftsman" Industrial Internet Talent Training Base was officially launched in Xiamen's Huli district on Sept 20.

The base aims to nurture individuals skilled in both advanced information and communication technology and industrial domain knowledge or specialized skills, which are crucial for industrial internet-related work.

According to Lu Chunchong, dean of the China Academy of Industrial Internet, with the increasing digitization of manufacturing, there is an urgent need to cultivate a large number of versatile digital talent who understand industrial production and possess digital skills, known as "Digital Craftsmen".

By 2025, China is expected to have demand for 3 million industrial internet talents, highlighting a current shortage of around 2.4 million professionals.

During the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, accelerating the establishment of institutional mechanisms to promote the development of the digital economy was proposed, providing crucial guidance for further advancing the digital economy.

Huli's comprehensive manufacturing industrial chain provides an ideal environment for nurturing digital talent, facilitating experiments and advancements in talent cultivation and further developing a top-tier digital talent cultivation system at the county level.

Comprising one center, two platforms, and three bases, including the digital talent public service center and digital technology craftsman platform and digital skills craftsman platform, the base will offer training, certification evaluations, and support for companies undergoing digital transformation.

Over the next five years to a decade, the base aims to train tens of thousands of digital craftsmen, enhancing its digital talent pool.
