The 2025 Mawei-Matsu Lantern Festival got off to a rocking start at the Langqi Hongguang Lake Park, located in the Mawei district of Fuzhou city, on Jan 9.

The extravaganza runs to Mar 2, spanning 53 days, marking the longest exhibition period it's had to date. The show aims to celebrate the Spring Festival since it was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Featuring six themed zones and over 130 large and medium lantern displays, this year's lantern festival is showcasing a range of familiar scenes to Chinese people, such as Zheng He's Voyages to the Western Seas.

In addition to the lanterns, visitors can enjoy local folk activities with distinctive Fuzhou characteristics and experience cultural elements shared between Fujian and Taiwan.

Furthermore, visitors can stroll through the park with hand lanterns and join lantern lighting ceremonies that are held on weekends and holidays, experiencing the grandeur of ancient Lantern Festival celebrations. What's more, throughout the event firework displays will light up the park.

For the convenience of visitors, a number of parking lots and two special lantern festival bus routes have been organized.
