Fujian province breaks record with 2024 imports, exports
East China's Fujian province achieved record foreign trade in 2024, hitting 1.99 trillion yuan ($271.44 billion) in the value of total imports and exports.
That represented a 0.8 percent year-on-year increase and maintained the province at 7th position nationwide.
Exports rose by 5.3 percent to 1.24 trillion yuan, while imports decreased by 5.8 percent to 751.23 billion yuan.
The private sector in Fujian thrived in 2024, with nearly 29,000 private enterprises engaging in import and export activities, setting a record with an increase of 1,764 ventures from 2023.
Their trade growth rate topped the province’s overall rate by 2.5 percentage points. Indeed, their trade volume accounted for 59.9 percent of the province's total trade value, consolidating their position in foreign trade.
Exports of high-end equipment by private enterprises grew by 23.1 percent, demonstrating increased innovative capacity.
In terms of new quality productive forces, Fujian experienced significant growth in 2024. The export of wind turbines for green energy increased by 21.1 percent year-on-year, while exports of electric vehicles for public transport surged by 43.7 percent.
Additionally, exports of flat panel display modules for advanced manufacturing saw a 17.9 percent year-on-year increase.
Exports through cross-border e-commerce platforms rose by 17.8 percent to 178.81 billion yuan, representing 14.4 percent of the province's total exports and ranking Fujian fourth nationwide during the same period.
