The 2025 Fujian Spring Festival Gala, which was recorded on Jan 18 in Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian province, is scheduled for local and international stardom.
It's due to premiere on Jan 29, Chinese New Year's Day, at 19:35 on Southeast TV and on online platforms worldwide, celebrating the Year of the Snake.
Themed on "Spring returns to the Southeast, embracing new beginnings", this year's Fujian Spring Festival Gala presents innovative expressions of Fujian's Fu culture.
That's through songs, dances, traditional operas, and skits, which capture the very essence of Fujian's vibrant Spring Festival traditions.
The televised gala features comedy stars Li Chuan and Zhang Weiwei, as well as renowned vocalists like Rainie Yang, Lei Jia and Azora Chin.
Esteemed opera performers, such as Wang Jun'an, Su Yanrong and Huang Yanyan, will also grace the stage together.
Highlights of the program include a multi-dimensional stage design that showcases iconic settings from the blockbuster video game Black Myth: Wukong.
It's set in the East and West pagodas of Quanzhou and the Ruiyan Temple in Fuqing, both in Fujian, depicting the legendary origins of the Monkey King.
Additionally, graceful dances will showcase the elegance of Fuzhou's traditional women's hairstyle known as the Three Knives.
A touching skit titled the Weitou Bride will narrate a poignant cross-Strait family tale, while songs will uplift the dreams and aspirations of Fujian's youth.
Malaysian Chinese singer Azora Chin will pay homage to education pioneer Tan Kah Kee alongside students from Xiamen University and Jimei University.
